Rockin' Steady

Rockin' Steady

Walt "Clyde" Frazier is by far the definition of cool. He was one of the greatest point guards in NBA history and led the New York Knicks to their only two championships. In addition to his skills on the court, he was also known for his flamboyant fashion sense off the court. He is now an analyst on the MSG Network and his colorful commentary makes painful Knicks games enjoyable. I beg you to watch this video and find someone cooler.

In 1974, Clyde teamed up with New York Times sportswriter Ira Berkow to write Rockin' Steady: A Guide to Basketball & Cool. The book as become an iconic piece of basketball history.

The book is filled with fantastic illustrations by John Lane that show and how to throw a two-handed push pass, the sequence of a jump shot, how to catch a fly in midair and purchasing a Rolls-Royce. Ya know, the essentials.

The original book, which contained an amazing illustration of Frazier on the cover, was a out of my price range, but the re-released hardcover version is just as amazing. I highly recommend picking up a copy of your own and you'll be "dishin' and swishin'" in no time.
